Who would be the audience for your media product? How did you attract/address your audience?
The audience for my film is teenagers of both sex around the age of 15-18, I chose this age group due to the age range of the actor/ess so the audience will be able to relate to the characters, plus usually horror films are certificated a 15 so this would be a good age to have as a target audience. When researching in to what our target audience’s favourite films are we constructed a survey and had a couple of teenagers fill it out, the responses we got were positive towards our ideas, such as the most common were horrors or thrillers. The clothing used in the film for the actress was what a teenager would wear on a casual day, we tried to make it feel as if they will be able to relate to her as much as possible to get the sense of fear she is feeling. When we finished filming and editing we decided that we would show the opening to a couple of people from our target audience and find out what they felt about it, and if it was something they would want to watch, their responses are below.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I decided that Dimension Films would be a good company to distribute our film because they have distributed films with a similar genre to ours such as Scary Movie, Piranha, Devil’s Knot, Halloween and The crow. Dimension films is an American production company owned by the Weinstein Company, it was formally used as Bob Weinstein's label within Maramax Films, to produce and release genre films. They then took this label and departed the Disney-owned Miramax in October 2005. By researching into this before producing our film, we were able to have a look at the style and way their distributed films were made and mind map some interesting ideas, this helped us when producing our film. The way in which 'Dimension Films' distribute their films is that they blanket advertise and post links on social network sites, this would be a good way of distributing our film because most of our target audience use social networking sites daily.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I feel overall from producing my film that my planning, production and editing skills have developed a lot from the beginning when we created our preliminary task.
I feel that from the planning point of view i have learnt that it is best to look into many different films already made and analyse everything about them including their; shot angles, character expression, lighting, editing, sound, speed and conventions used for the specific genre. I feel that all of these factors help a lot when planning your own film because you can take ideas and work on them to fit your story line.
I feel that my production has improved in factors such as filming, as continuity is a big factor when making a film and i feel that i have improved in doing this and i think that it shows from my preliminary and my film opening. My Editing skills have improved as i have learnt how to use effects well, especially on the transition of shots. I also feel that this shows from my preliminary to my film opening as it flows like a film and does not jump from one shot to another.
Technologies that i have learnt more about whilst producing our two minute film opening are After Effects, Adobe Premiere and the Camera. I feel that with the camera it is only small things but have all built up to the overall quality being much better, for example the different things you can do when filming different shot types whilst also using two cameras to get all of the best angles. I feel i have learnt a lot from editing our film and increased my skill in Adobe Premiere by using more effects and speed/duration. With After Effects i have learnt a lot because i have never used it before, so i learnt how to compose a shot with writing, add effects then import onto Adobe Premiere.
